FCSWC has three accommodation facilities on the east coast of NSW, Australia. FCSWC are affiliated
with around 55 clubs throughout NSW and club members can stay at FCSWC facilities at below-market
rates. The style of accommodation is self-contained with the focus on "affordable, family holidays".
|
| Federation Secretary Bob Broadfoot supplied me with a logo (see top left), site text
(lifted from existing marketing materials) and some photography. I visited each location and took
further pictures. Photography for the web has to be in a specific style... it has to show people what
they are going to get without under or overselling the facilities. Overselling particularly can be
disappointing for the customer. |

Carl Dumbrel approached me to make a small web site for his accounting and financial
services practise in Sydney and the Gold Coast. This site sits in a market with well known brands
like Ernst &
Young and KPMG. Have a look
at those sites.
|
|
Note the layout. An image running horizontally the width of the screen at the very
top. Horizontal navigation below this. Then a four column approach in the body area and finally
a bottom bar to contain the design. To place Carl's site in that market I followed the same layout
ideas.
In a marketing sense Carl's web site communicates similar things as EY and KPMG sites
to user: we are competent professionals operating in your market, without claiming international
reach.
|

108. Valery Trails
|
www.valerytrails.com.au |
| is a long established horse riding tour and training facility in Valery, just south
of Coffs Harbour, NSW. Owners Mary & Clarry Quirk were looking to extend the reach of their marketing.
Their site describes their services and give customer comments. |

|
|
 |
(revised) Kathy & Paul Fancourt's web site started life late in 2001 with the previous Park
owner. We re-designed the site recently to add new photography, new pages and make the site stretch
to take up all available screen real estate. The basic colour scheme has been preserved. In the
design I have tried to bare out the pool and riverside aspect of the Park.
|

110. Hungry Head Retreat
|
www.hungryhead.com.au |
 |
Formerly a section of www.hungryheadstudios.com,
new owners Max & Brenda have given this excellent holiday accommodation business a higher profile
with a site that focuses on the bush and seaside aspect of the property. The wave and seagull suggest
the sea side, while the banksia flower and dam suggest bush. This property is sure to do well in
the self-contain family accommodation market.
|

|
|
 |
This holiday accommodation based in Victoria's Highcountry offers two accommodation options: a
self-contained cabin and guesthouse accommodation in Harrietville. With instant access to the outdoors
and particularly Victoria's alpine area, this web site offers the perfect all-season retreat from
the city.
|

112. Firefly Country House
|
www.bellingen.com/firefly |
 |
This property is listed for holiday rental with LJHookers
of Bellingen. This basic 2 page web site is designed to attract attention outside the usual holiday
rental marketing offered by real estate agents. In that respect it is similar to www.yambagetaway.com.au.
Both sites email the owner and the agent concurrently. This way the owner has some way of knowing
what kind of leads the agent has received. LJHooker report good interest in this property resulting
from the website.
|

|
|
 |
Gary and Tim first contacted me to do search engine submission work on their site in January 2005.
I knew at that time the site was written poorly and was unlikely to attract much attention from
search engines.
|
| I asked if I could redesign the site in a more search engine friendly way. This mostly
involved quarantining font information to a style sheet. The site also has been refocused on fishing
and wildlife tours and the graphics work improved. |

|
|
 |
Kombu Wholefoods opened in Bellingen in September 2004. Since then owners Kevin and Lowanna Doye
have established a vibrant wholefoods grocery with an intimate, family feel. The nice excellent
on this site is the work of Kevin Doye. Ecommerce services are on the way. Kombu uses Microsoft's
Retail Manager. We have written synchronisation software for Retail Manager to interface it to the
Kombu website.
|

115. Monticello Countryhouse B&B
|
www.monticello.com.au |
| DWS first made a site for owner Maryanne Murray in 1998. This is the first revision
of that earlier site. The site needed reconstruction for search engines as search technologies have
moved on considerably since the first build. We also added new pictures and revised the text. |
116. Robards & Associates Public Accountants
|
www.robards.com.au |
| A plain, two page website of placeholder information. Ready to be scaled up as information
comes to hand. |
117. The Kabana guesthouse accommodation, Urunga
|
www.bellingen.com/thekabana |
 |

north of Urunga.
|

118. The C~shack, accommodation Stradbroke Island
|
www.cshackholidays.com |
 |
Owner Dugald Anthony had a very specific brief for this site - make it minimal. Plain, clean lines.
Let the photography and fittings stand out. The resulting design (below) is the fifth iteration
as more and more detail and colour were thrown out to make the final result. The photography (supplied
by Dugald) was specifically set up in a retro "polaroid" frame. C~shack offers "a
pop cultured holiday accommodation" experience. The many paintings, posters, textiles and
fittings make up the theme.
|

119. Bonville Lodge
|
www.bonvillelodge.com.au |
 |
(OWNER EDITOR) Cathy & Ron run a guesthouse with
two styles of accommodation; homestay and self-contained. With expansive grounds and no expense
spared on decor, Bonville Lodge offers guests private, quiet areas for dining, bathing or just reflection.
Aware of established accommodation sites in Coffs
Harbour it was important to Cath & Ron to get the presentation and image just right.
|

120. RSL Port Maquarie Sub Branch
|
www.rslport.org.au |
 |
The second only RSL sub branch to get a web site - contract won by Dynamic Web Solutions! This
straight forward site details the Port Maquarie Sub Branch's services and activities. The text is
larger and on plain white to favour older visitors, although the main audience for this site may
well be the adult children of veterans exploring local resources on behalf of their parents. Logo
supplied by the Sub Branch.
|

121. Getaway Inn, Hunter Valley
|
www.getawayinn.com.au |
 |
Ideally situated in the Hunter Valley, Getaway Inn offers "affordable luxury" guesthouse
accommodation. Like Bonville Lodge above, Getaway Inn's owners recognised they are entering the
accommodation market with many established players... many of who have excellent web sites. Uniquely,
Getaway Inn offers package tours and group bookings. Photography supplied.
|

122. Hypervent
|
www.hypervent.com.au |
| Hypervent is a niche product in the marine market. It prevents mold by allowing air
to circulate under boat mattresses, around pumps and in closets. This six page site is owned by boat
designers Schioninng
Marine. They distribute this useful, Canadian made product in the Australian market. |
123. Solar Inverter Services
|
www.solarinverters.com.au |
| This busy web site describes Peter Bulyani's solar inverter supply, repair and consultancy
business. Although Peter continues to add to and refine the site, he has thought carefully about what
market his site serves and has provided key information to his customers. |

125. Hatha With Heart
|

|
(INACTIVE) The website of Kristen Boddington, yoga teacher and specialist. Details yoga classes in Byron Bay,
Mullumbimby and Sydney. This site has excellent yoga self-practise pdfs.

A range of contemporary Australian fashion jewellery. Owner Lindy O'Neil supplied all the photography
and text for the site. Lindy's products accommodate a range of ages and will do well on the Internet.
We have begun marketing the site on search engines and requesting inbound links. Lindy reports excellent
early sales.

Testimonial
"The Federation of Community, Sporting and Workers Clubs had been looking at having a web site
developed to advertise their three holiday centres. After looking at various web developers Peter Mitchell
was engaged to develop a site for the Federation. We are extremely pleased with the site he developed
and the comments from our associated clubs have been very complimentary. I found Peter very cooperative
to work with during the development stages. The photographs he took at the holiday locations really lift
the various pages of the site. I would personally recommend Peter to any organisation contemplating setting
up a web site."

"Just a short note of appreciation for all your help, guidance and advice with the design and
development of our web site, Bonville Lodge.
We were and still are complete novices in this arena and without your ongoing help and knowledge would
never have been able to complete this task. Please feel free to use us as referees at any time. We are
more than satisfied with the attention and service we received."

"Having your first web site built requires a leap of faith and more importantly, finding a good
partner - someone with a proven track record. After speaking to a number of web design and hosting companies,
I literally stumbled across DWS. From the outset, Peter demonstrated his ability to combine technical,
design and customer service skills to improve upon the brief provided. I have no hesitation in recommending
DWS as an experienced, highly responsive organization that helped educate the client (myself) through
the web design and construction process."

We have recently (March 2005) taken over a well established NSW Tourist attraction comprising Holiday
Accomodation and a Pottery/Gallery set in beautiful bushland and close to the ocean. The previous
owners of 20 years had begun to establish some internet advertising in a fairly adhoc basis and on taking
over we were keen not to 'throw the baby out with the bathwater!
Peter Mitchell was most professional and helpful in guiding us through the technicalities of updating
and upgrading the existing website whilst still listening to our particular requests to personalise our
image.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Peter to other prospective clients and look forward to dealing
with him as our business grows, with the development of a cafe to compliment the gallery and provide a
further service for the tourist trade in this area.
